Study session on the constraint equations: overview, progress and prospects

Scope of the session: This afternoon session will extend the ideas introduced in the morning lectures by Bartnik and Isenberg. Emphasis will be put on recent results and open problems concerning the gluing of known solutions to produce new solutions of the Einstein constraint equations. The following contributions are planned:

• "On parameterizing the space of solutions", Y.Choquet-Bruhat (Paris VI);
• "Gluing solutions: conformal approach" D.Pollack (Washington State Univ., Seattle);
• "Gluing solutions: non-conformal approach", J.Corvino (Massachusetts Inst. of Technology);
• "Vacuum space-times with many black holes", P.T. Chrusciel (Universit�de Tours);
• "Asymptotically Flat Initial Data with Prescribed Regularity at Infinity", S. Dain (AEI Golm).
