Dear Cargese participant, Please find below some practical information concerning the Cargese summer school: 0) Some of you have still not input on the travel web page the information about your arrival. If we do not know on which flight you will be on, you will have to get to Cargese by your own. The Institute is about 50 km north of Ajaccio, and it is located to the left, on the seashore, about one and a half km before the Cargese village when coming from Ajaccio. You will be given information about the details of your accomodation upon your arrival to Cargese by the Institute's staff, if you arrive during work hours, or if you arrive with one of our buses. (Most of the participants are housed in the village; it is a pleasant walk from the village to the Institute.) 1) we are planning to have two buses leaving from the Ajaccio airport to the Cargese Institute on Sunday 28 a) the first one will leave after all the persons on flight AF4722 arriving from Marseille around 15.00 will have showed up b) the second will leave after all the persons on flight AF7570, arriving from Paris at 20.05 will have showed up Those of you who will arrive earlier in the morning will have to wait for the 15.00 bus. The buses will be waiting in the bus parking which is located at the left after exiting from the arrival hall (the Ajaccio airport is rather small so you should have no difficulty finding that). The buses will have a sign saying Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargese. 2) We will contact individually the persons arriving on Saturday 3) The Institute's mini-bus will pick-up all the people arriving Sunday after the second bus above will have left. The mini-bus will be leaving for Cargese after all the people on flight AF7572 arriving around 23.00 from Paris will have showed up. Please let us know immediately if your flight arrives later than this one. The mini-bus is a Ford Transit with a Cargese sign (color: blue-grey), it will be waiting in the car parking lot, hopefully close to the exit of the arrival hall. 4) Similarly we will arrange for some buses from Cargese to Ajaccio on departure day (Saturday August 10). If need arises some further trips from Ajaccio to Cargese will be organised, watch out for further emails about that. 5) There are supposedly two regular buses from Ajaccio downtown "gare routiere" to Cargese at 7.20 and 16.00 (I am taking no responsibility for this information - PTC). 6) We can arrange for a taxi to pick you up from the Airport, at 80 Euros during daytime hours on week-days, and 95 Euros in the evening, or on Sundays. To obtain this rate the taxi has to be ordered via the Institute, here is some contact information: (France's dialing code is 33; you have to drop the first zero when dialing from abroad) Mme Chantal Ariano 04 95 26 80 40 Chantal@cargese.iesc.univ-corse.fr Mme Brigitte Cassegrain 04 95 26 80 40 Brigitte@cargese.iesc.univ-corse.fr M. Pierre-Eric Grossi 04 95 26 80 42 Grossi@cargese.iesc.univ-corse.fr Melle Nathalie Bedjai 04 95 26 80 40 Nathalie@cargese.iesc.univ-corse.fr Fax number: 04 95 26 80 45 You can also take a taxi directly at the airport, this should cost about 120 Euros (more on Sundays?). 6) Information for campers: the Institute has showers for campers, as well as two fridges for food storage. There are, however, no cooking facilities; lunches and breakfasts will be served at the Institute on weekdays, but you have to take care of your dinners, as well as all meals on Sundays. There are shops and restaurants in the Cargese village. You can use the Institute's facilities for working at all times. 7) Please see http://cargese.univ-corse.fr/indexe.html for various practical information concerning the Institute 8) Most participants will be housed in the Cargese village, which is about 2 km from the Institute. The Institute's mini-van will make a few trips each day to carry back and forth a limited number of participants, but most of those who are able to do it are expected to take the (pleasant) walk. (This is the last chance to reconsider the possibility of camping: you will not have to take the walk neither to the Institute, nor to the beach.) 9) For those who will have their travel expenses reimbursed: a) we will try to reimburse the EU funded participants within the first few days of the school, possibly on Monday or Tuesday. b) some US participants will have their travel expenses refunded by the Clay Institute - they will receive a check from the Clay people after submitting a travel expense form with their original tickets. c) those people who will have their travel expenses paid by the CNRS will receive the money after the school via bank transfer - these things do take a while in France in general. It will help if you have the details of your bank account with you. d) Some airline tickets do not have a price on them - if this is the case with your ticket, please make sure to have the original of the invoice with you, otherwise we will not be able to reimburse you. 10) The library at the Cargese Institute is being renovated, and will probably not be accessible by August, so that essentially no books will be available at the school. Participants should consider bringing some basic books along if they want to have some reference literature at hand. Similarly lecturers might want to bring along a few books which might be necessary for their lectures, especially if they want to make them available to students. You are encouraged to try to coordinate that with P.Chrusciel. 11) For those whose expenses are not covered by us: You can pay everything in Cargese upon arrival (no credit cards accepted); if you prefer, you can also make a bank transfer (in a way which guarantees that no fees are charged at our end) to: account holder: Universite Francois Rabelais 3 rue des Tanneurs 37041 Tours Cedex bank: Tresor Public 94, boulevard Beranger F 37032 Tours Cedex tel (33)247317575 fax (33)247317603 IBAN (international bank account number): fr76 1007 1370 0000 0030 0007 512 BIC (bank identifier code): BDFEFRPPXXX RIB (releve d'identite banquaire): 10071 37000 000030000075 12 domiciliation TPTOURS VERY IMPORTANT: reference required with payment: 908 cr 0822 escm It would be best if you fax me a copy of the order of transfer, so that I can keep track of it in case of problems The conference fee is 250 Euros The lunches at the Institute (no lunches on Sundays) together with coffee breaks cost 135,7 Euros for the whole school Housing expenses are determined individually (depending upon where you will be staying), please contact Mrs Ariano (email above) for your exact price. 12) All the accomodations have been taken care of, you can contact Mrs Ariano for details 13) The information contained here will also be available on the web page of the school, URL http://www.phys.univ-tours.fr/~Cauchy 14) An updated preliminary schedule for the school will be available on the web within the next few days.
